Staffordshire 2007

The front of this coin features a Bottle Oven which are a unique feature of the Staffordshire Area of England.  These ovens are used for firing ceramics. At the highpoint there were more than 4,000 bottle ovens. There are less than 40 left.

The back side depicts a Stafford knot, sometimes erroneously referred to as the Staffordshire Knot, first made its formal appearance in the County on the Heraldic Shield of the Stafford family in 1583. Since then, its use has become widespread and it appears on all manner of things made, used or published in the County. However the knot was much in evidence long before its adoption by the Stafford family. For example, a seventh century bell from the church of St. Mure in Ireland carries an exact replica of the knot.

"Two Headed Coin"

Recently Avoair posted the idea of doing a coin with a different tracking number on each side.  We already had one in process.  This is a personal coin by MooseMob or if you cache in the Las Vegas area you know him as your friendly approver RoadRunner.  There are two tracking numbers, one on each side and a unique icon for each side.  We think this is the first coin where this has been done.
